Interesting discussion of GTL. Fischer-Tropsch process was used to generate fuel in Germany during WW II. A commercial version of F-T was developed in 1980 by Gulf oil which later was sold to Shell. Shell has been operating plants off Australia and Malaysia coast for a number of years. South African company, SASOL, has the most common experience in this area since South Africa was short of crude oil sources. Many companies claim "innovations" and "patents" in this 50-year old technology. Exxon, in particular, claims to have hundreds of patents and is supposedly suing US DOE in US for infringement. Green fuels from this process do not have sulfur or other pollutants, because the gas is cleaned. Rest, later. Ram
