Why I say I plead guilty to being an elitist this goes back a year or two ago on this thread. I am NO elitist when compared to a gal who grades men on their IQ scores. IQ is bullshit. Plenty of high IQ folks are Ferrari's up on blocks- lots of horsepower going no where. I think that is what you think of "professional students". However, theoretical insight frequently precedes practical achievement. I do not know much about your field, so maybe it is limited to the practical- I've always had that prejudice against MBAs. In the sciences theory often precedes practice- it HAS to- theory makes the practical possible. In literature, theory is all. There is nothing practical about literature, unless I suppose you are in the publishing business. Law, again, theory first- then practice. Of course there are many practical steps to take in any legal matter, some mechanical, some not, but without theory and creativity it wouldn't be much fun. Those are the fields I know intimately and love.
