Compaq Services Selects Legato Systems to Support Customers' Enterprise
Storage Management Outsourcing Requirements

PALO ALTO, CALIF. (April 5) BUSINESS WIRE -April 5, 1999--Legato

worldwide licensing agreement with Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE:
CPQ), a recognized leader in enterprise computing. Under the agreement,
Compaq Services' Operations Management Services business will purchase
and resell the Legato suite of products as needed to meet client
requirements. Compaq Services is using Legato NetWorker, Legato GEMS,
and Legato SmartMedia as part of its enterprise-class data management
and business-critical storage services outsourcing solution for global
customers.

of experience in providing scalable, heterogeneous data protection for
large enterprises with complex, distributed computing environments.
