I'd say there's debate - I think most people and the market have acknowledged it's not just a Y2K problem. There's a harmonic convergence of events here.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that the best option for PSFT at this point is to acquire their way into the mid-market, acquire their way into a more competitive net-friendly and vertical-friendly position. They've had success in the past with acquisitions - it's about the only thing they've proven they can do well repeatedly. A big, risky R&D project is probably not the best way at this point, although it's what they're doing. They still have an underleveraged balance sheet.

Every day another ERP vendor falls to new lows. Surely there's a bargain to be had. Bob Zagorin may even have some suggestions.
