Michael,

Productivity may suck but Gillette has been toast since they introduced the Mach3. This was a product destined to fail. I remember a Mad magazine parody from my youth when double-bladed razors were introduced. The legitimate commercials for double-bladed razors showed the first blade cutting and straightening the hair so that the second blade could finish removing it. The Mad advertisement was for a triple-bladed razor. They had a hilariously convoluted explanation showing the third blade mopping up for the other two. Years later, parody becomes reality but the consumer is not fooled. Why spend so much extra money for blades for marginal results?
