Over on the Yahoo board, which does not work very well right now, there seemed to be a contest to see who was planning to buy out Budget.

Last I heard, the best guess was Penske/Hertz. Is this for real, or are we just assuming that there will be a buyout because the bookvalue is $18 and the stock is selling for $11.

Can anyone substantiate the rumors? If so, what would you expect the buyout price to be. How would a buyout price be calculated? I have heard/read estimates of between $18(book value) and $24.

Any insight will be appreciated. It would be a shame to sell this stock just before a buyout.
