Intel Investors - A Rare DESIGN Win for Pandesic !
At least the company has a recognizable name - KLM !
However, the product is "FLOWERS" not airline tickets.
How fitting - Intel finally gets involved in another round of DUTCH Tulip-mania for the Internet!

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 1999--Pandesic LLC, the Internet company from Intel and SAP, today announced that KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, one of the world's leading specialty air-freight carriers, is using the Pandesic e-business solution to reach new markets and create new revenue streams.
KLM, based in Amsterdam, Holland, is partnering with Pandesic to create NewFlowers.com, newflowers.com, to facilitate the trade of fresh-cut flowers directly from international growers to U.S. florists.
"The unique capabilities of the Pandesic e-business solution provide merchants with the tools necessary to expand existing businesses and take advantage of new market opportunities created by the Internet," said Pete Wolcott, president of Pandesic. "By providing features such as credit management and accounts receivable we are able to equip KLM with the essential e-business processes to conduct timely business-to-business transactions between flower growers and U.S. florists."
NewFlowers.com Sells Fresh Flowers to U.S. Florists
KLM recognized the Internet as a way to expand their business to reach new customers and business partners. The company had been shipping fresh flowers from international distributors to U.S. markets for years, when the reach and accessibility of the Internet created the opportunity for KLM to become a distributor as well as the carrier.
Partnering with Pandesic, KLM has created a new e-business, enabling fresh flowers ordered through the online store to be delivered directly from Amsterdam and Ecuador to U.S. markets. The robust back-end solution provided by Pandesic has increased the efficiency of the delivery process, cutting the average delivery time from grower to florist from five days down to 48 hours.
"After a thorough evaluation of various e-commerce solutions for our online store," said John Engelaan, Director of Electronic Commerce for KLM Cargo, "We chose the Pandesic solution because of its ease of deployment, flexibility in pricing and most importantly, the solution's ability to fully automate a complex supply chain management process. Our partnership with Pandesic improves the level of service our customers receive and will contribute to our goal of doubling online revenue by 2001."
KLM is taking advantage of several features included in the Pandesic e-business solution such as the ability to bundle Web orders into bulk purchase orders and process purchase order payments directly over the Web. Pandesic's real-time inventory capability allows U.S. florists to fulfill their customer's orders with grower's current fresh flower inventory. Using Pandesic's reporting capability, KLM can generate reports that meet U.S. customs requirements which expedite international orders.
