What you say about the price of a good secretary is true, but I'd think for a computer to replace a human, you'd want better cost savings than $20 vs. $6. But of course, you have other advantages to Portico like part of the cost is telephone toll charges.
Still, the fact that when you call Portico and ask her to dial some one from your address book results in double billing makes this service price very high in my eyes. That leaves you paying maybe .25 cents a minute for a local call plus whatever the phone charges are.
When you look at many cell phones today keeping 250 names and phone numbers on speed dial, makes some of the address book features in Portico less interesting. Add in the fact that you can't send an e-mail without it being a reply to an e-mail, the address book really isn't so amazing.
Then you have the question, am I really willing to convert 100% to Portico and let all my contacts call me through this service? I have to pay for all calls, even wrong numbers. Well, certainly it makes sense, but one must make the commitment.
The service is just starting and likely it will have a falling price as more users come on line. I've always been a strong believer in Portico, but I don't really have need to use it personally. I can only fantasize about what people want.
Looking at last quarters revenues, this makes me wonder. We should have new numbers coming soon. Hope they show improvement.
