Question regarding IRS audits. What do I need to keep for my personal records that a potential auditor would like to review? I have already thrown out my confirmations that the brokers mail out. Should I save them from this day forward? I will save my 1099's and monthly statements, is that enough? Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

If anybody has gone through an IRS audit or knows what to hang on to, I appreciate any insight you could provide.

Thanks for responding to my questions.

Jim
