I agree completely - Lane is a COO kind of a guy. The right relationship would be Larry driving direction and Lane driving execution. Maybe Larry is too busy to mind the store. But Oracle's problems run deeper - they like to do what is easy, the sales force is geared up for that, and the app sales are harder and require a deeper knowledge than the customer's golf handicap. SAP did a much more effective job in selling their programs to the consultants, and created a model where there was a lot on the table to make that relationship work.
