The drop in WIND is not due to some cumulative, sudden dissatisfaction with WRS products, nor is it due to the difficult time small caps and software companies are having. By the way here are links to DJ software index chart and the S&P small cap 600.

I don't pretend to know the makeup of the software index and I'm not saying that it accurately reflects the status of WIND's competition.

What I am saying is that a drop from testing all time highs around 34 in late January to 14 less than 2 1/2 months later, resulting in the testing lows from 3 years ago, is so precipitous that it defies the descriptions accorded it on this thread. Close to a 60% drop!

Nor is this the result of perceived competition somewhere down the road, even from the likes of MFST.

This is a company that always meets or beats expectations. This is a company that was given a number of strong buy reiterations after the conference call....now trading at mid '96 levels.

If someone told me the story without mentioning the name of the company, my conclusion would be something drastic was about to occur.

What comes to mind... poor earnings? Possibly, but we were assured that '99 was looking good in the last earnings report. My fear is that it is something more ominous. Time will tell.
