Scumbria,

Re: "I don't believe that there will be any margins left in the K6 family in a few months. Rapid price cutting by Intel will force AMD to push K7 production faster than they originally intended."

I respectfully disagree.

If they can ramp up the 0.18 in time a k-3 will be around 70-80mm2 in die size. This part in Q3/Q4 would command ASP's of over $150 at clock speeds of 500-600Mhz. And 600Mhz in 0.18 is very achievable.

Thats margins in the 60% range.

The big question is wether they will be at 0.18 micron in Q3 or not.

They K7 frankly at 184 mm2 is not going to yield well IMHO.

Again at 0.18 they can have 70% margins on the K7 in Q3/Q4.

The key is manufacturing of course and 0.18 micron process capability.

Anyway a very good night and hope your sims work out.

Regards,

Kash
