If they can ramp up the 0.18 in time a k-3 will be around 70-80mm2 in die size. This part in Q3/Q4 would command ASP's of over $150 at clock speeds of 500-600Mhz. And 600Mhz in 0.18 is very achievable.


I don't see it. The introduction of Whitney will allow Intel to sell bundled, CPU/Chipset/graphics at a price that AMD will have a hard time competing against. A major attraction of K6 has always been the lower system cost. K6 products will require much deeper discounts to provide the same value.

AMD needs a product which can achieve escape velocity away from the Celeron black hole.
