Hi Andreas, sorry, the question, in general, is outside my area of expertise. Haven't held 9984 long enough to see a full balance sheet. I do not believe 9984 recognized any unrealized gains on their balance sheet, else the need to sell US$ 400+ million of Yahoo! a few weeks ago would not have been necessary to recognize a gain (which offseted a loss on ZD etc); as they could just have borrowed more 1.x% Japanese bank loans against their paper gains to set up the announced investment fund.
