Third-Quarter Sales

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 1999-- Franklin Telecom
(AMEX:FCM) Tuesday announced that its preliminary sales results for the
third quarter ended March 31, 1999, are $4.1 million.
This represents a 230 percent increase over the previous quarter's $1.2
million. The $4.1 million figure does not include a backlog for $2.6 million
in orders that have already been booked for delivery during the current
quarter.
This marks the fifth straight quarter of substantial growth in revenues.
Going back to the March quarter of 1998, revenues were $325,000. June
quarter 1998 revenues were $524,000; September quarter 1998 revenues were
$933,000 and December quarter 1998 revenues were $1.2 million.
Franklin President Peter Buswell commented, "I realize we are bucking a
trend here -- Internet-related stocks are not supposed to actually bring in
money, but what can we do? People seem to want to buy our products."
He continued: "All kidding aside, there's a clear pattern of accelerating
growth which we expect to continue. As the idea of Internet Telephony takes
hold in the marketplace, companies are just beginning to discover that there
is potential for much more than just cheap phone calls. We are dedicated to
producing a product line which will facilitate the applications business is
looking for in areas of e-commerce and voice-enabled Web sites."
CFO Tom Russell added: "It is extremely gratifying to see tangible results
from our growth. This is more than three times last quarter's sales and a
1,162 percent increase over the same period last year. That's remarkable,
but what is just as important is to notice the incremental, solid pattern to
this growth."
The primary business of Franklin Telecom, founded in 1981, is the design and
manufacturing of communications devices, high-speed LAN, WAN, Telco and
software. Franklin customers have installed more than 100,000 nodes
worldwide. Franklin's Internet subsidiary FNet provides Voice over Internet
Protocol global Telco services.
