Able Telecom Unit Failing Grade For E-ZPass In NJ (ABTE) - Report

(NewsTraders.com)-- A unit of Able Telecom (ABTE) that won a contract to build
the collection system for the E-ZPass on the New Jersey turnpike failed last
week to make a vital construction deadline, according to the New York Post.

Highlights:
- The subsidiary, MFS Network Technologies, likely won't have the system up
and running by early 2000, and possibly even a year later.
- A subcontractor working for MFS has accused the company of nonpayment and
failing to deliver key components.
- MFS says the E-ZPass is on schedule and has denied all accusations.
- Some on Wall Street are shorting Able Telecom's stock, betting that the
company will fail to deliver the system on time.
