<< One doesn't have to side with the Serbs to think this war is stupid. >> So, what is your choice, to look the other way? That was the popular choice when Hitler was given the Sudetenland portion of Czechoslovakia in 1938. << One doesn't necessarily lack compassion if one does not wish to see the US intercede in this civil war. >> What is your solution, to stand by and do nothing while hundreds of thousands lose their homes? << In fact I would argue that people with real compassion see the greater misery that lies ahead brought by the destruction of NATO and the further debasement of the US in the eyes of the rest of the world which will greatly diminish our ability to help in conflicts where the moral imperative may be MUCH clearer. >> So, because you are afraid that NATO's image might be tarnished, you're willing to let hundreds of thousands of people be uprooted from their homes, while their children are raped and beaten? I'm beginning to understand your point! <g> << It is all too easy to be carried along without thinking. >> Thanks for the great example. <g> << I cannot imagine a positive endgame here. >> Well, it is possible that the Slob, Milosevic has his powers to make war greatly diminished. It is also possible that the Kosovo Albanians will be able to move back to their lands and be able to rebuild their homes and whatever lives have not been destroyed by the Looting Serbs. << Either we get the Serbs to back down now (and then later more b;oodshed errupts as soon as we leave). OR we get our ass kicked and there is still bloodshed plus the US looks even more foolish than we did before. OR we leave an occupying force. OR the Russian bear awakes and this conflict becomes more dangerous. Now tell me- which of these looks GOOD to you? >> I see Slob Milosevic backing down. As soon as he fears for his own ass, he will make peace. He is the same as many other corrupt, incompetent thugs. As soon as he feels that his own cowardly ass is in jeopardy, he will capitulate. After that, the Kosovos will move back to their land. NATO forces will be stationed in Kosovo for years to come, to keep the peace. NATO will assist Kosovo in rebuilding, but will not help Serbia until Milosevic is thrown out of power, and hopefully put on trial for crimes against humanity. Or........... Serbia will be bombed back into the 18th century. Now tell me- which of these looks GOOD to you?
