PB, re AMD's "low power NOT (compared to previous mobile MPU), statement by author Paul quoted: Betting that OEMs will sacrifice low power consumption for a faster clock speed, Advanced Micro Devices Inc. is rolling out the latest version of its mobile K6-2 microprocessor. ... Your remark: Seems to fly in the face of convention to me. Oh well, Industry standard setting AMD continues to push the envelope for Quality and Reliability...in the opposite direction of the rest of the industry! The 'Oh, well...' statement is tongue-in-cheek, right? You also think quality and reliability will be impaired. Is that inherently because of more heat being bad, in general, for CMOS, higher Vcc, or what? Speed/power always has been the tradeoff. Tony
