Michael, this is a drastic oversimplification. DSP is not commodity like SRAM, DRAM, FLASH, and even to a certain degree x86 CPU. A DSP chip is essentially a specialized CPU that requires proprietary software to do anything. So once a company like a Nokia, or Ericcson chooses a DSP on which to base their PCS phones, they can't easily switch, because of the software base.

Don't expect any glut of DSPs any time soon. The third world build out of a wireless local loop should guarantee this. Add to this almost countless other apps that were previously analog/RF moving to digital, and you kinda get the picture....
