Ron--I believe the point of Cheryl's post re: GPS and the captured troops was that GPS equipment would have helped their rescuers locate them...nothing more nothing less. Read the post again. She never claimed GPS capability would have prevented them from becoming separated, attacked or captured...Sort of reminds me of the Panama Canal exchanges.

(As a side note: GPS might well have helped them prevent capture--not the attack...there's a difference--as they were able and did radio for assistance while under fire based on the CNN tape I heard of the exchange between the troops and whoever was trying to discern their position. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on that.)

(As another side note: New high resolution spy satellites and even more precise GPS equipment due to go into service within the next year or so will changes the rules of engagement for everyone concerned based on the news coverage I recently saw. Very interesting, very frightening, very deadly and of course very expensive. Should give the US a good leg up...initially that is.)

CNBC Power Lunch will soon feature Koskinen on y2k (within the next hour?) No indication as to A, B, C or D time segment scheduled.
