Release 7.0 Increases System Capacity and
Adds Enhanced Features
BASKING RIDGE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 6, 1999--Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU
- news) today announced the MERLIN LEGEND® System Release 7.0, the latest release of its
market-leading, award-winning communications system for small and mid-sized businesses. The
system's capacity has increased from 127 to 200 stations and MERLIN LEGEND 7.0 now
supports Series 3 and Series 4 phone sets from the PARTNER® ACS, a Lucent Technologies
communications system for smaller businesses. Sold through local Lucent sales offices and
authorized Lucent BusinessPartners, MERLIN LEGEND 7.0 will be available on April 26,
1999.
Other updated features include the addition of alpha/name display to the caller ID function,
priority call queuing for call center operations, enhanced programming and maintenance
administration software, and optional software interfaces that can help facilitate easier
implementation of computer telephony integration (CTI) applications.

Introduced in 1991, the MERLIN LEGEND Communications System is a modular system that
can scale up to 80 telephone lines and 200 telephones. The system supports an array of
feature-rich digital telephones, headsets and TransTalk® wireless handsets. MERLIN LEGEND
Mail offers a variety of sophisticated messaging options. MERLIN LEGEND Basic Service
Center (BSC) and MERLIN LEGEND Enhanced Service Center (ESC) call center solutions help
