Betty: Thanks, but let me press this just a bit.
The SEMIndex is not a cause, is it? For example, if I own a '92 Ford that needs a lot of repairs, I wouldn't say it needed those repairs because Consumer Reports said '92 Fords were high maintenance vehicles. They're just reporting a finding. The car needs a lot of repairs because it wasn't well made.
So, the index is an average of performance, but within that there are "winners and losers" (bad terminology). Players like Veeco, a competitor of JPSI, are up, but JMAR is down. This is the "mixed performance." If we say JMAR is down because of mixed performance, it is just a tautology. We are saying JMAR is down because (Veeco is up and) JMAR is down.
My question is, why was JMAR down, while others in very similar business are up? What is it about JMAR that causes loss of confidence and selling while others enjoy increased confidence and buying? Also, since the recent JMAR news doesn't have much to do with JPSI and semiconductor equipment, but with PXS and BriteLight, would it have much to do with what is going on in the SEMIndex companies?
I just wonder if anyone can answer the question, or if it is one of those things you don't worry about because there is no way to understand it.
I know this board is not a classroom, and I apologize if I am too naive or just plain dense. |
