Hi Bob. I took a look at the cymer links you referenced in an effort to find out just where bearings are used in the CYMI lasers. Unless I missed it, neither answers that question. Sooo ... where are bearings used? And would you buy the contention that Komatsu has managed to produce a system that doesn't require them? And (last question, I promise) just how expensive can it be to replace bearings, anyway? Unless they're exotic because they're immersed in gas or something, or replacement takes the laser offline for a long period of time, I can't imagine it being that costly. I don't recall Akins ever mentioning bearings in his comments; the lifetime-related comments I recall were all about the chamber.

In the past, there were rumors about 'vibration'. I wonder if this is a revisit of that in a new form.
