Cardinal Technologies today announced the new Cardinal Connecta family of 56 Kbps (kilobits per second) and 56 Kbps-ready internal and external modems featuring x2 technology. Cardinal will ship 56 Kbps modems in March with x2 technology which most of the major Internet and Online Service Providers are using to enable 56 Kbps speeds for their customers. With its increased speeds, low price and quality Internet software, Cardinal Connecta gives users a great value. More than 18 million subscribers who access the Internet through such providers as America Online, CompuServe, Prodigy, IBM Global Network, MCI, Netcom, US West, and more than 400 other ISPs around the world can begin enjoying analog modem speeds of up to 56 Kbps using the Cardinal Connecta family of products. The Cardinal Connecta family includes 56 Kbps and 56 Kbps-ready internal and external modems. The Connecta 56 Kbps modems ship preconfigured with x2 technology to run at speeds of up to 56 Kbps right out of the box. The Connecta 56 Kbps-ready modems come preconfigured to run at 33.6 Kbps and are software upgradable to 56 Kbps. The Cardinal Connecta product line also includes a 56 Kbps and 56 Kbps-ready internal Windows-only soft modem, which utilizes the computer's central processing unit (CPU) for some of the modem's functions. This modem is ideal for Windows users with 486 or Pentium processors. Customers will find Cardinal Connecta modems available at most computer retail stores and direct mail PC catalogs.
