the axe is the mm or book that is doing the majority share of the business with the stock. i determine the axe, if i don't already know who it is, by the level2 mm window that shows "# of times best" ask and/or bid. then i highlight that mm so he is easy to see on my desktop. as you are probably well aware, there are those who think it is wise to mimic the movements of the axe. if he's showing size to buy, good time to get in. size to sell, he has too much product, and it's time to get out or sell short. hope this helps. mark
