KANATA, Ont. -- Newbridge Networks Corp. (NN) said it has formed a joint venture with TeleHub Technologies Corp. to deliver intelligent call and service control products to service providers replacing narrowband toll-tandem circuit switching with next generation broadband networks.
In a news release, Newbridge said the joint venture, TeraBridge Technologies, will "deliver this first-to-market solution without the constraints of an installed base of legacy narrowband switches." It said the venture enables it "to capitalize on this important market and realize significant revenue."
Newbridge said TeraBridge leverages its position as a "leading" vendor of multiservice, multi-access WAN solutions and TeleHub's "innovative" Virtual Access Services Platform, or VASP, software suite to create a product portfolio that meets both established and next-generation service provider needs.
Newbridge and TeleHub will co-own the company, to be headquartered in Gurnee, Ill. Management will report to a board equally comprising Newbridge and TeleHub executives.
The initial staff will include more than 130 employees from the parent companies.
