Steve,

Intel's x86 business is extremely lucrative, and an attractive target for numerous competitors.

AMD is the only company which has made a dent in Intel's armor, and is in position to take the performance lead with K7. Intel plays very, very rough at this game and I am quite impressed with the performance and toughness of AMD. K6-2 475 was released two months early, and it made no difference. Intel is playing serious hardball.

Intel has not lost momentum because of AMD, but rather because they miscalculated about Merced.

Be careful what you say about Jerry because you may well be eating your words in a few weeks.
