<<Really? Have they been drained? Or is it that you believe that some other enemy would actually have the stupidity to lauch an amphibious attack on our shores. Get real! This country is armed to the teeth. We're having trouble with saddam, a third rate dictator and we're the most pwerful country in the world! You really think we're vulnerable? Scary.>>
Hesitating to invade the US because of our armed strength is a whole other animal than making the claim that we are protected by two oceans. That claim is flat our wrong. Has been for a century.
You seem to contradict yourself, in one breath you say we cant handle a second rate petty dictator, and then you state disbelief at my (alleged) assertion that we are vulnerable. Which is it?
Arms sales: my mistake. In looking up a link for you, I discovered that if you exclude the Warsaw Pact, Soviet sales were indeed less than US sales abroad, sometimes. It seems upon examining the figures that the US, Russia, France, the UK, and China seem to flip flop positions. The US has been on top since 1991. It takes quite a bit of rummaging to get any numbers, the UN only keeps figures back to '92, and before '89 its hard to find any numbers for the USSR at all. |
