<RE--security software market.
All kinds of tech stocks are getting hammered. The Internet-related stocks are flying high, and the big-cap leaders of some other sub-sectors might be strong, but there are plenty of tech stocks that are doing lousy, not just the security software market (chkp axnt neta issx scur). SAP, IFMX, etc. etc. etc.>

The interesting thing about this problem with Axent is this is the first time I've read that buyers are worried about getting new software for hardware that might have to be replaced due to Y2K.

Yes, as you say this is not a security software specific problem.

What I'm wondering is if we are seeing the beginning of the problem?

Sure we had a lot of earnings warnings before now, starting a year ago but something serious has hit Axent. They are projecting several bad quarters to come. Until two weeks ago projections were very good.

Regards,

Mark
