Manufacturing Process Optimization Solution for
Corded and Cordless Telecommunications Products
Expected to be a Multi-Million Dollar Sale
At the Robertson, Stephens Technology `97 Conference held in San
Francisco today, GenRad, Inc. (NYSE:GEN) announced that it will
provide the manufacturing facility of Lucent Technologies' Consumer
Products Unit with its GENEVA(R) Functional Test and Measurement
Systems and its ENCOMPASS Test Data Management Software for testing
corded and cordless telecommunications products. It is expected to
be a multi-million dollar contract.
GenRad's GENEVA systems will be used to perform functional
testing on Lucent's corded and cordless telecom products.
Manufacturing electronics for use in telecom products requires
balancing the pressures of high volume with the need to provide a
quality functional test in a timely and cost-effective manner.
GenRad's President and Chief Executive Officer, James F. Lyons,
stated, "GenRad's GENEVA continues to be a valuable solution for the
telecommunications market, where system testing is critical to ensure
high quality and reliable products. GenRad is proud to continue our
