The big shortage in SW engineers and the overabundance of work in software is causing companies to heavily recruit from wherever they can. It is definitely damaging to a company when engineers leave. All of a sudden there are not enough people to finish projects on schedule and probably not enough people to even keep some projects going. Therefore the company has to have the engineers that are left work even more, and to also decide which projects to pursue and which to drop. In these situations, a bigger company like S3 with money can entice people to leave for more money, better position, etc. and really damage another company. In 13 years of software engineering I have never seen anything like the number of people that are leaving companies for new challenges. This is the time to improve your lot for the better, much better usually. By the way, if anyone out there knows any good software engineers that are interested in ATM networking near Boston, let me know. Experience in embedded programming and C necessary. Sorry for the plug, back to S3. Just because these engineers only have 2 - 3 years experience isn't necessarily bad. Some of the best engineers i know only have a couple of years experience, and at that point they are still not too set in their ways and can be groomed to fit in.

Sorry about the working at Trident mistake.
