DALLAS, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Voice Request Corporation, an independent
subsidiary of Voice Control Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: VCSI), announced today that
it has signed an agreement with IBM (NYSE: IBM) which will make its
Pure ReQuest!(TM) automated telephone operator system the industry standard in
technology, quality and service. The agreement brings together IBM's advanced
computer technology and highly skilled nationwide service organization with
Voice Request's leadership in speech recognition solutions, including its
industry leading Pure ReQuest! speech-enhanced call routing products. For the
first time, businesses can enjoy the latest in speech features with the
assurance of IBM quality and service in the critical role of automated
telephone operator systems.
Pure ReQuest! is a revolutionary speech recognition system that enables
callers to speak the name of the party desired and be connected automatically
to the appropriate extension without operator intervention. By eliminating
the need to memorize extension numbers, or enter the spelling of someone's
name on the telephone keypad, Pure ReQuest! allows callers to reach the party
they want through the most natural and convenient method they know, speech.
With the advancements in speech recognition, many companies are now
automating the answering and routing of telephone calls with speech-enhanced
automated attendants. These systems have become mission critical to these
companies and must offer the same standard of quality as their phone system.
Until now, however, businesses have had to accept lower standards for
reliability and service in speech-enhanced auto attendants. With the combined
offerings of IBM and Voice Request, Pure ReQuest! customers will not have to
compromise on quality.
"Our customers told us they needed the ultimate in quality and
maintainability and we're happy to deliver it," said Voice Request's president
and CEO, Peter Foster. "We now provide the quality of an IBM hardware
platform with the highest quality field support available. Our partnership
makes IBM field service available to Pure ReQuest! users anywhere across the
country, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The IBM agreement complements the
high caliber sales and service already provided by our VAR partners, which
includes GTE Communications Corporation (NYSE: GTE) nationally and leading
regional telecommunication equipment resellers."
Walt Tetschner, president of Tern Systems, a highly regarded
Voice Industry marketing research firm, had this to say about the
Voice Request announcement: "Support and distribution is what differentiates
success from failure in this industry. There's no shortage of folks that will
turn out a product. Telecommunications is a mission critical environment
that's got to be supported. I applaud Voice Request for having the vision to
provide what this environment requires."
With over 150 systems installed and operating in the US and Latin America,
Voice Request is the leader in the speech recognition automated attendant
industry. In addition to its headquarters in Dallas, Texas, the company also
has regional offices in Cambridge, Massachusetts and San Jose, California.
