Dear Allan,
I got the idea that Peritus was MD's closest competitor (based on speed ) from the article in US News & World Report.
Excluding Alydaar could have been an oversight on the part of the reporter or, as you suggested, it could have been a self serving, intentional, manipulation. You may not like this, but I believe it probably was intentionally manipulated and frankly, my hat's off to whoever arranged it.
This article falls under the category of sales and as a salesman myself I'm impressed with whoever pulled this off. Now here's MatriDigm a small start up company, with no revenues, no customers, no sales, in fact no confirmation of any kind that their product even works and somebody arranged to get their name mentioned in an article in US New & World Report as 1 of 2 "company teams" that will probably emerge at the top of the Year 2000 heap !!!!! HOT DAMN BROTHER ! ! ! ! I'M IMPRESSED.
So Alydaar, wasn't mentioned. So What !! They want to get acknowledged let them pull the strings to get their own article in US News. This is sales and as a salesman if you want to find out who my competitors are, there's the door, go out and look for them. If you want an objective overview of companies offering the same product get a consultant.
If I had said this when the article was first released I'm sure it would have been construed as "more tea leaf reading" on the part of a long, but since you brought it up, that's the way I feel.
One last observation, that article admittedly cut all other Y2K companies off at the knees and put Zitel/MD and IBM/Peritus as the probable "kings of the hill". I'm curious as to who pulled the strings for the article. Sure would be interesting if it was IBM. Wasn't it Jack King that said in all probability "the best will partner with the best"?
You have a good day D/D
P.S. I can't wait for some real info to start coming out so we can stop doing this. |
