More *Convergence* Stuff . . .

Under the general topic of *More People, More Stuff* the followng three items caught my eye in today's news - ( I tend to mention this stuff because I think it shows how much and how fast the "who, how, and what for" of computer use is changing and expanding - which may then have an impact on IOM's bottom line.)

1) Because of surging traffic on the 'net, UUNet Technologies Inc. of Fairfax, Va. will spend $300 million in the next few months to increase the capacity of its large interstate datalines by more than 13 times and quadruple its ability to handle telephone connections.

2) Kodak has announced a new Internet service that will let folks see photos they have taken, order reprints, and send e-mail pictures. It will available later this year nationwide. It will cost about $5 to have a roll of film scanned (didn't say if a roll was 12, 24, or 36 exposures). With that you'll get a password to control who can view/download (save) them.

3) The other day I mentioned that the Denver Public Library was putting its world class collection of western historical photos on the 'net. Now I see that numerous museums are putting a lot of their displays there too. Sure, you can browse your way around on-line each time, OR - you can surf & save as fast as possible and enjoy the exhibits off-line at your lesiure. Check some out -
