I am glad you pointed out that the Serbs were not a "bulwark" against the Ottomans. The Ottoman empire was thrown back twice from the gates of Vienna. The second time was for good and they never again posed a threat to the rest of Europe. Still, credit must be given to the Poles (not the Austrians) for this one since it was the king of Poland that sent his army which arrived very much just in the nick of time to save the city.
