Is it really a civic duty to give yourself up for an undeclared war (unconstitutional) in a far off place because a draft (also unconstitutional) got you? Not to mention that service in that meat grinder was a complete waste and for naught. Seems to me one could argue the opposite: The position taken by Mohammed Ali could be seen as the highest example of civic duty...prison. Those who ran to Canada or kept their college deferment at all costs are in a similar class tho not necessarily a bad one. Those who went along with their draft orders were unfortunate victims and those who volunteered were unfortunate dupes.
