The unix vendors can't manufacture cost effectively at the low
end (well anywhere really)

SUNW's low-end Ultra 5 runs at the same price/performance as DELL's
high-end PC's. The only difference is the software. Solaris
is a high-quality, secure O/S and NT is not. NT supports apps
which are not available on Solaris that helps it to sell well in
the office market. Now SUNW is producing the PCi card that runs
NT apps inside an Ultra on a pci-slotted card with no performance
hits.

Michelle, this means that MSFT has serious competition in their
home base, and it's coming from the leading internet team in
the business: SUNW-AOL. You need to consider this carefully
if you are thinking seriously about staying long on MSFT.
