OT- Question to the thread.

How about dividends? Does anybody even care about dividends
anymore as a measure of a stock's worth?

When does a company typically decide to start paying a dividend?

It seems to me that if all stocks paid some kind of dividend, and that was tied to earnings, we might have some more reasonable
valuations.

Sorry if these questions sound naive, but does anybody care about dividends anymore or is it all just speculation now?

I pose this question to the thread because I realize there are
some knowledgeable and candid folks listening.
