Can you prove beyond 100% certainty that AMD would have had no sales at a 5% discount

It is quite simple. AMD systems sell for considerably less than Intel systems. A 5% discount on the CPU is not adequate to make up the difference in system cost. It would therefore be more profitable for an OEM to ship with an Intel CPU.

Don't be so arrogant as to think that you know better than the company's management. These people are quite saavy and experienced.
