Surprisingly, this thread is one of the best outlets for irony around. Irony can be a bit overworked, as you suggest. This thread is one of the few places where it can go unrecognized, incognito, as it were. It can relax here, put aside the responsibilities of the ironic life. In an odd sort of way, it can be its opposite. How ironic, you think. And you think rightly. Mind you, it's not the ideal vacation spot for irony, since it often finds itself getting into trouble. One wrong move and it's exposed, told to pack its bags and move on. It reverts to its workaday habits, even descending into sarcasm at times. But it means well -- truly. It asks only for a little patience and understanding during its brief visit. It came only for a spot of sunshine, spending as it does most of its life in shadow.
