Yes, I keep going back to the bank guarantee issue too, for obvious reasons. It bothered me that the day after the news was released Debra (name?) at HGRM told me that 3-4 banks were involved (at least at some point I guess) with the deal. I thought she said American banks. I forget now the exact words she used, but I clearly remember that when I asked which ones she didn't know and seemed a bit surprised that I asked. I was surprised that she didn't seem to know. It didn't come across to me that she was just being cautious, but I may have mis-interpreted.
It is also odd that as I understand it an industry source at first received no word on whether a US Bank and then, as I hear it, received word that a US Bank was involved. The latest press release only mentioned a foreign (Russian, right?) bank. Perhaps there was a miscommunication to the industry 'source'.
Well, I don't like things that sound funny, but if there is need for secrecy then what 'sounds funny' may simply be explained by prudent lack of disclosure. I understand the need for secrecy about shipment details, no doubt. I understand less the need for secrecy regarding payments.
Are we to assume that the mentioned bank is it? Based on what I heard not firsthand, the answer would be probably not. If that is the case, why reveal a Russian bank but not an American one? Any ideas on this? Or does the mention of one bank, a Russian bank, sound like the whole financial story to you?
