I hit the NASDAQ button [market for price] as long as 1000 shares or more are showing I always get filled in literally 2 to 3 seconds at the ask [or bid] that was there when I hit the button, every time.

Maybe that's it! I've used NASDAQ orders (at market) to exit positions, but not to get in. Instead, I'd been using Selectnet (whether or not to a specific broker) or ISLD. I'll try your suggestion tomorrow and use NASDAQ limit orders to enter into a position. I hope you've nailed it! Thanks, and I'll report on what happens.
