You have quite a collection of drives now! How many total? What is in the fourth IDE slot?
What is the reason for the removable tray for the SCSI drive?

Yeah..these should hold me for a while. I have the original Wnt and KOT drives (IDE 1 m & s). I added the ROMO s (IDE 2 master) and I added the scsiTA. So thats 5 if you count the two ROMO s. IDE 2 slave is my cd-rom.

Isolated in what sense? Did you install the TA app from the primary NT boot and give the
location for the install as the SCSI drive? I am not saying it is a bad thing..just not isolated.

No, I installed a new NT on the scsi and then installed TA right there. Truth be told, I didn't think of installing from primary nt. I did want total isolation. I think thats what I got.

Why do you want the two programs on the KOT? Is it a space issue on the primary drive?

Its partly a space issue. Primarily (or so I thought) its an attempt at simplicity. My reasoning was to have one install each of Diskeeper and BE that would service both the primary NT drive and the scsi drive automatically overnite. And the broader definition of the KOT drive being a service/utility disk, I thought this would be consistent thinking. Since I have to leave my computer booted to one drive or another and these apps would have to reach out to work on either NT drives I thought KOT would be the best choice to have Diskeeper/BE installed on. Except I never end the day in KOT. I would have to make an extra boot to it at the end of every day. This is what I'd like to avoid.

'd like to leave the machine as is, that is booted from either primary NT or ScsiTA. Will
this work or would I have to reboot every nite into KOT for Diskeeper and Backup Exec to
execute?

Maybe. I have no experience with these apps.

Richard thinks I would have to be booted in KOT for these apps to execute on an automatic schedule.

Are we talking about installing to the KOT from a KOT boot or installing to the KOT from a
primary NT boot?

I don't know yet. What would be the advantages/disadvantages of each? My goal is to backup and defrag two isolated drives automatically and unattended every nite. The unattended spec is problematic as I can only leave my computer booted to one drive or another. Hence Diskeeper/BE would have to reach out to work on either primary NT or scsiTa or both depending on where they are installed. There must be a way to automatically defrag/backup two separate drives nitely.

I can not help much here. I usually stay away from these types of applications. I would
approach them with a healthy degree of skepticism. Most apps seem to come with an
uninstaller. Do you have some apps that do not?

I have the scepticism....I was wondering how well-founded it was. I was more interested in cleaning issues than uninstalling issues. The thought of uneeded and used files, folders and registry items accumulating on my computer makes me wake in a cold sweat in the middle of the nite <g> Thats only a slight exaggeration.... I wouldlike a way to clean this stuff up.. don't you?

it will probably be another six weeks until I have something to show for my efforts.

I think having something to show is overrated......if the process turns you on thats all that matters...
