Banks do store that information but only for about 3 to 6 months online; after that, off to the microfiche dungeon...

I'm not saying it's easy, but I like this Benny's idea of a checkbook. I would't trust my checkbook to YHOO or AOL, but I'd pay some extra money to the bank for providing this service. When banks see their customers going to portals, they will have to come up with additional services and a checkbook might be one of them. Having your checkbook, they may even offer you to prepare your income tax. I know, it is not easy.<G>
