Speaking of which, Microsoft should just publish their core source code. It'll get the DOJ and those insufferable and cowardly state AGs off its back. Who the hell cares anyway? No one will touch the stuff unless there's some profit potential to play around with Dollar Bill's crown jewels. There isn't. Besides, Microsoft can always hold back a non-core component or two... you know, things nobody cares about or needs like device drivers or the GUI...

Separately, Brian Valentine, the vice president in charge of completing Windows 2000, said the company is "seriously considering" publishing the source programming code of the "NT kernel," the core of the software. Opening source code allows programmers outside a company to help improve its technology. -WSJ
