If you would examine the principles upon which Bin Laden's philosophy stands you may not consider him so enlightened. Read again the very paraphrasing of that philosophy. I will give you some hints to his philosophical foundations.

The central principle upon which his fundamentalism stands is *negation*

What he sees as American nihilism is a clue to what he fears: reason and the independence of thought. He hates America because of what we stand for: liberty and the primacy of the individual.

He does not fear the destruction of his people and the subversion of their truths, he fears that they will be given the opportunity for independent thought and the critical search for truth which may contradict *his* truth.

He does not advocate life: he advocates the destruction of life.

Yes, Americans have destroyed Arabs. Not only do we pump billions of dollars into their economies, we provide them with the means for a standard of living which people like Bin Laden would destroy. Bin Laden would like his people to be unquestioning slaves to a theocratic Stone Age Kingdom of Allah. Allah Akbar!
