SCSI vs IDE ---

Due to the various types and ages of the machines I wish to access, I think that Scuzzi is out due to costs.
I do realize, having done it before, that the movable hd is rather fragile, but being the only one to handle the device, this is a minor factor.
The four here at the house all have at least one IDE slot available, both on the controller and with a free cable end also inside the machine. The other ones, from recall, I would think would be the same.

What I will try first, before purchasing one of those fine looking ones like you and Clarence have is to "homemake" a rig using parts I have already in my possession .....
external hd box with a 4 gig WD hd.

If that works and I find it to be as useful as I can envision it to be, I'll definitely get one like ya'll have.

The hot removal/addition would only be pleasant to have for I'll be the one cranking up the box at the location when I need it.

Unless something is different than I know, I can't forsee any problem in a simple removal from the system because when a boot would happen without the drive being present, the only difficulty would be that Windows would notify that drive "e" was not present or not responding but one could just continue on without difficulty ..... is that correct ?

Thanks for the answers ......
