AK is a friend of Carl Icahn.

He owns 14.8% of the company.

He has submitted his own proxy.

To learn more about it:

freeedgar.com

and type in "z" on the ticker line to view filings.

In terms of the fallen angel reference. My cost is $4.50, so I would say that it has been a pretty great performer.<g>

I do agree that we have been a touch sleepy on this thread of late. So, I will add some news from the institutional world.

Juris P. (Venator's IR guy) chatted with a friend of mine (whose firm is a very large holder) to update him on the quarter yesterday morning (or it may have been Tuesday morning ... I do not remember). He said that the quarter was progressing very well and that if he gets a couple more positive weeks, he will have to make an announcement that could stir things up a bit -- I am paraphrasing the last expression because I do not remember precisely what was said ... but, that was the "flavor."

So, it sounds as if business is getting better. This does not mean that they are definitely going to "beat the numbers" or have a decent quarter. There are still a couple of weeks of uncertainty ahead (followed by many, many more weeks of uncertainty!). Moreover, it would not be a surprise for the company to be "doing well" ahead of a hostile proxy battle ... and once we get beyond this quarter ... the comps get so easy that a good year over year comparison is not much of a stretch.

So, do some work. Read the filings at freeedgar.com ... Visit: woolworth.com and come to some conclusions on your own ... and ask your brokers: "Where the hell were you when the stock was below $4.00?"

Good to see that you are interested in this one.
