Identix/ANADAC Selected by the State of
Maryland and Arlington County, Va. to Supply Advanced Photo Imaging
and Identification Systems

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 1999--
Identification System With Integrated Facial Recognition
Identix Inc. [IDX-news], a leading worldwide provider of
live-scan and biometric verification systems, Monday announced that
its subsidiary, ANADAC, has been awarded contracts by both Maryland's
Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Information
Technology and Communications Division and the Arlington County
Virginia Police and Sheriff's Department to supply advanced photo
imaging and identification systems with integrated facial recognition.
The combined awards are in excess of $650,000.
The installation of the DCTrack system in Maryland and the
DCTrack with Identix/ANADAC's optional integrated Facial Recognition
Module and DCBadge systems in Virginia allows officers to quickly and
accurately capture, store and search images and their associated
demographic data. Both products are members of ANADAC's DocuCOLOR(TM)
product family, which is an advanced 32-bit Windows application that
performs a variety of criminal justice information management
functions.
As delivered to the Arlington County Virginia Police and
Sheriff's Department, DCTrack is equipped with Identix/ANADAC's latest
release of an Integrated Facial Recognition Module and uses
state-of-the-art identification technology to assist officers in
identifying suspects or linking them to other crime scene data. The
DCTrack optional facial recognition module incorporates some core
technology from third party vendors, which recognizes a person's face
or composite sketch in comparison to a database of mugshots and/or
photos.
A complement to the DCTrack product is Identix/ANADAC's DCBadge,
which provides users with the ability to create badges for personnel,
visitors and contractors quickly and easily. Identix has live-scan and
mugshot systems already installed in the state of Maryland, as a
result of previous contracts; this new order augments the criminal
justice systems already in place.
Identix Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Randall
C. Fowler said, "Identix is focused on providing the complete solution
to all of our customers. We are very excited that our live-scan and
photo-identification technology provide the law enforcement community
the ability to identify a criminal through fingerprint or facial
recognition or both."
Arlington County Police Department Captain Mike Hill commented,
"It is Arlington County's expectation that the digital automation of
our mugshot files in conjunction with the facial recognition feature
will greatly enhance our ability to provide our officers and
detectives with positive leads in solving crimes."
ANADAC Inc., a provider of information technology, engineering,
system integration and consulting services to government and
commercial entities, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Indentix Inc.,
based in Arlington.
Identix is a leader in designing, developing, manufacturing, and
marketing products for the capture and/or comparison of fingerprints
for security, anti-fraud, law enforcement and other applications.
