Sovereign Changes Name to Mydiscountbroker.com
DALLAS, April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Because of the growth of its Internet investing business, Sovereign Securities has officially changed its name to Mydiscountbroker.com.

The firm has used the Mydiscountbroker.com name to offer on-line investing services through its Internet web site at www.mydiscountbroker.com since February of last year. During that time, on-line services became the main business of the firm, and Mydiscountbroker.com was recognized as one of the 10 best on-line brokers by SmartMoney.com and was ranked among the top 20 of Internet brokers by Gomez Advisors.

''We decided to make this change to eliminate any confusion about who we are,'' said Mydiscountbroker.com President Bruce Zucker. ''When we opened as Sovereign Securities in September 1996, we were a traditional discount broker,'' he continued. ''Today we are a deep-discount, on-line broker conducting most of our business over the Internet.''

Zucker said Mydiscountbroker.com is the name by which most people know the firm because of its commercials on CNBC-TV and advertising on the Internet. ''It's the brand that sticks in the public mind, and it's the brand we want to put most of our effort and dollars behind.''

The name change will become effective immediately. Zucker said the firm will add a tag line, ''formerly Sovereign Securities,'' for a few months and then discontinue using the Sovereign Securities name altogether.

''Nothing but the name is changing,'' Zucker said. ''We're maintaining our focus on growing through superior customer service, offering the best technology and constantly improving our e-commerce site at www.mydiscountbroker.com.''

Mydiscountbroker.com emphasizes high-quality customer service while providing Internet investing at $12 per trade (up to 5,000 shares). In addition to stocks, options and bonds, the firm also offers clients free, unlimited checking, free checks, no-fee IRAs and a broad spectrum of no-load and low-load mutual funds. Mydiscountbroker.com is a member firm of the National Association of Securities Dealers and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest Securities Group, Inc. (NYSE: SWS - news).
